First Day of School

Yesterday was Maggie's first day of school.

{Look at those cheeks!}

It was Anne Catherine's first day back to school after a week of potty training at home.

{You get to wear whatever you want when you're potty training at our house - don't worry - she didn't wear this to school.}

And it was sort of like my first day of school, too. I had my first day back to work after eight weeks of maternity leave.

I'm going back part time and feel extreamly blessed to have such a flexable schedule. I go into the office two days a week while the girls are in mothers day out {MDO} and I work from home in the afternoons the rest of the week. Is that a great schedule or what?!

Well, excited to start my newest routine, I packed all lunches, backbacks/diaper bags, etc. the night before so that we could make the trip to MDO as smooth as possible. And I'm so glad I did. I was busy from the time I woke up at 6:15 to the time we walked out the door at 9:00.

My big girl did NOT want to wear her pull ups to school. She thought they were diapers. And diapers are for babies. I tried all morning to get her to wear them. {I had a hunch that this would happen.}

Luckily, we saw Laura when we got to MDO and she convinced AC that Lolly had them, so AC put the pull up on over her big girl panties. Crisis averted.

I dropped the girls off, explained their schedules and new potty habits to their teachers and went on my way. And shockingly, I didn't even cry.

I had a great first day back to work. It was nice to see everyone again. And honestly, it was nice to sit and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee alone in my office. :)

But, I did miss my girls. I talked about them all day and I just couldn't wait to pick them up and hear that their first day was just as great as mine was.

Unfortunately, that was not the case.

AC didn't use the potty all day. And her sheet that usually tells me that she is "a joy to have in class" told me that she didn't take her nap, she didn't eat her lunch and she was "aggressive." So I asked what they meant by "aggressive." It turns out that my sweet angel was a bit of a bully. {Probably because she was tired, hungry and needed to potty - I would be a bit aggressive, too! Ha!}.

And my sweet Maggie slept most of the day, which would have been fine, but her teachers just let her sleep through her first feeding...so she only got one bottle all day!!!!

That's when I lost it. That's when I cried.

My poor babies. AC went all bully on me and Maggie was starving to death.

And then I found this in the back seat when we got home.

My poor girls were totally knocked out. Even the bully.

Praying we all get adjusted to our new schedules soon. :)
